Ambulance too late

Summary
A "green emergency" was it called, there should be a response within 20 minutes. A paramedic was there within 15 minutes, but the ambulance took 34 minutes to get to the place where the call was made. Sarah Gould lost her baby because it took this long. She started bleeding as she was dropping her daughter off at school. The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) said that an ambulance was sent as soon as one became available. Too bad it was too late. According to the EMAS a condolence has been send to Ms. Gould and her partner. Her partner has said that he will never trust an ambulance ever again, he could have got her to a hospital within a couple of minutes, but they thought waiting was the best option. Words: 129

Opinion
I think it is weird that she got a “green emergency”, while she was bleeding, while she knew her baby was dying. If she had got a “red emergency”, which means an ambulance will come within 8 minutes; the baby may have been saved. I think that the ambulance service should try to picture these kinds of emergencies. At the other side, I think they did the best they could in this situation. Although I feel sorry for the woman who has lost her child, you cannot change it, but I hope in the future, these things don’t happen anymore. Words: 100

  1. "A green emergency, there should be a response within 20 minutes". This sentence doesn't look right. You might want to take another look at it since it's the first sentence of your blog entry. Agree with your personal opinion though.

  3. What a tragic story. Although I really wonder why, after waiting around 10 minutes, they did not go to a hospital on their own. I mean if her husband says he can get her to a hospital in a couple of minutes, why not do it? It might have saved the baby.
